Why choose this project?
User lives off campus and uses a bike to get around.
Why an automatic bike lock?
User got his bike stolen and had to use the bus. User also finds it an inconvenience to use a key to lock and unlock the lock since he misplaces the key often.
What caused his bike to get stolen in the first place?
User used a cable bike lock which can be easily cut and possibly did not lock it correctly because of the complexity of using a key.
What would be an ideal bike lock for the user?
One that is quick and reliable.
What’s the biggest inconvenience with current bike locks?
Having to use a key and take it off of the handles and wrap it around the actual bike rack.
How often does the user use his bike?
Every day to class, to the gym, as well as nearby restaurants

Automatic bike lock that locks and unlocks with fingerprint
It would need to be durable and strong enough to withstand cutting
Have a reliable fingerprint scanner and be relatively easy to program
Waterproof/weatherproof

Problem: A way to combat stolen bikes by having a more convenient, keyless bike lock.
